One Day Accountant & Controller

In May 2011 the annual One Day Accountant & Controller event, intended for first-year Economy and Management students who can choose to follow the bachelor study Accounting & Controlling, will take place for the sixth time. Thanks to intensive cooperation between the business community and the faculty, the event is a good addition to the general information that students acquire to help them make the right decision. An opportunity is given to students to get acquainted with the different disciplines, so they are able to get a better understanding of what the field is about.

During the morning, the study adviser will make an indication on the decision the students have made and draw up a study programme. After this, a brief word by an accountant and a controller will follow, who will make an outline of their activities so that the profession is shown as it is in practice.

In the afternoon the participants will be split into four groups who will each follow a programme at Deloitte, Ernst &Young, KPMG or PricewaterhouseCoopers. At the specific location, a simple case will be worked out where several accountants and controllers will be present to imitate the employer- and employee situation. In this way, the student will get a good picture of what the different aspects of work are on the practical side of the bachelor course.

To conclude the day there will be time for free drinks for participants, so they can get in touch with employees of accountancy firms, who will also be present. This will enable participants to come into contact with accountants and controllers in an informal way.
